UPTET 2026 Notification: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) Notification on 20 March 2026. Candidates who want to become teachers for Primary (Class 1 to 5) and Upper Primary (Class 6 to 8) in Uttar Pradesh must qualify the UPTET Exam. This exam plays a very important role for candidates preparing for teaching jobs in government schools across Uttar Pradesh.

UPTET 2026 Age Limit
Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply. There is no upper age limit specified for UPTET, but candidates must fulfill the eligibility conditions required for teaching posts as per government rules.
UPTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
For Primary Level (Class 1 to 5), candidates should have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks along with a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or equivalent qualification. Candidates having a B.Ed degree are also eligible as per the latest norms.
For Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8), candidates should have a graduation degree along with B.Ed or D.El.Ed qualification. Final eligibility conditions should be checked from the official notification PDF of UPTET 2026.
UPTET 2026 Exam Pattern
UPTET exam consists of two papers, and candidates can apply for one or both depending on their eligibility. Paper 1 is for the Primary Level and includes Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Paper 2 is for Upper Primary Level and includes Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, and either Mathematics & Science or Social Studies.
Each paper consists of 150 questions carrying 150 marks. There is no negative marking in the exam.
